To great satisfaction for the organizers and the participants, this years’ Lofoten Insomnia Race definitely exceeded last years’ event. The race had over twice as many participants as last year, about 500 cyclists enjoyed the road from Lofoten to Lødingen (in Northern Norway) on the night of Saturday June 28.
Team Zalaris participated with twelve employees, three from Å – which is the longest distance of 235 km, and nine participants from Kabelvåg with a distance of 110 km. The route is tough and varied with steep slopes and long underwater tunnels – however, the surrounding countryside is beautiful, especially illuminated by midnight sun. This year, the weather gods were on the bikers’ side, making this a memorable ride for our employees.
All our participants at Team Zalaris finished with great results, in the top end of the participants. Impressingly, Hans-Petter Mellerud won his class from Å – despite having a minor accident with his bike. The chain loosened up the last hill, but thanks to a helpful cyclist, he could finish within a short time. We’re all very proud of our sporty CEO who constantly delivers impressive results on his bike.
We hope to see even more participants next year enjoying the world’s only bicycle race in the midnight sun!
