Value drivers are all parameters that have a relevant influence on the results of a company or a business unit (e.g. investments, taxes, product quality). Also so-called “soft factors”, such as employee know-how and fluctuation rates etc., are defined as relevant value drivers in many companies.
With the help of value driver trees, the effects of changes on the identified, influenceable key parameters (value drivers) can be visualised and analysed. ZALARIS uses the SAP Analytics Cloud value driver function to map personnel requirements planning, which was previously conceptually developed and documented. As an example, in the social economy, planned values for the various subareas, such as the number of residents, occupancy, function holders, etc., are initially entered or systematically transferred per necessary classification level according to nursing degrees. This provides a plannable data basis:
The data basis can be networked with the help of a value driver tree. Here, too, the individual planning parameters can be changed, but now not only one value changes, but all interdependent values change automatically:
If the number of residents is changed, the corresponding personnel requirements are also influenced by the stored personnel key (reference value). The increase or decrease automatically changes the personnel expenses, which in turn influences the contribution margin.
With the help of value-driver-controlled planning, a quick overview is obtained of not only the headcount and the utilisation of the organisational units, but also how the financial situation of the company changes as a result of various influencing factors. A complex and interdependent structure becomes easily controllable with the help of the standard functionality of the SAP Analytics Cloud.
This value driver-based planning can be used for various planning purposes in the company (personnel, finance, marketing, purchasing, etc.). Many decision-makers would like to have such a planning option with SAP Analytics Cloud in order to be able to control their company area with maximum ease.
Further and more detailed information on SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), the individual modules and their benefits for companies can be found in the book “Smart Predict in SAP Analytics Cloud” by Dirk and Leon Vahlkamp.
