The first thing to say about this release is that there is a change in terminology in the release notes. Where previously there were references to “Universal” and “Opt-in/out”, from this release there is a new classification called “Enablement” – you can read more about what it means in my article “SAP SuccessFactors Release Schedule 2023: Everything you need to know“, but hopefully it is reasonably self-explanatory.
This is the biggest list of items I’ve ever seen in a single release with over 400 items listed in the What’s New Viewer. From this long list, 62% are listed with an “Enablement” of “Automatically on” which aligns to the old definition of “Universal”, meaning every instance will receive the updates.
Once again there are over a hundred changes in Employee Central, nearly a hundred across the Foundation/Platform elements as well as more changes in Opportunity Marketplace and across the whole HXM suite. In her usual video round up Amy Wilson discusses, amongst other things, Dynamic Teams going on general availability, the new Goal Library in Goals, the Horizon theme, MS Teams integration and the ongoing improvements in Time Management. On the new theme, we’ve already noticed a few teething issues – something my colleagues discussed in our recent panel discussion if you want to hear their views.
On that panel discussion, my colleagues also discussed “Talent Intelligence Hub” which was first introduced in 2H 2022 as a “centralized framework that connects individual attributes, strengths and styles, and expressive preferences to both people and the experiences”. These attributes can then be used throughout SAP SuccessFactors solutions, and in this release there is further integration to processes in Learning & Recruiting. I sense there is a lot more to come in this area!
Enjoy the Articles
Starting today and for the rest of the week, we’ll publish articles on each solution area of the SAP SuccessFactors HXM suite here on our website. Our authors endeavour to focus on the changes affecting end users and communicate them in a clear way. Hopefully you’ve always got the full SAP release notes in the What’s New Viewer to lean on for all the technical details.
