SUEZ unlocks system optimisation and cost savings with Zalaris Health Check and AMS partnership

SUEZ Australia, a leader in environmental services, has long prioritised innovation and operational excellence. During a recent period of organisational change, the business encountered challenges with its HR systems that led to a reassessment of its SAP SuccessFactors environment.

Initially confident in their configuration, the team soon noticed inefficiencies, workflows were not functioning as expected, administrative tasks were delayed, and support hours were quickly depleted with minimal return. As these issues began to impact daily operations, SUEZ sought an independent and expert review.

This led to their engagement with Zalaris for a full SAP SuccessFactors Health Check. The objective was clear: Understand what was working, identify what wasn’t, and chart a course for improvement.

Every time we went to do something in the system, it felt off. Things were taking twice as long, and we didn’t understand why. Despite having invested in implementation, the platform wasn’t delivering expected outcomes. Onboarding was ineffective, configurations were misaligned with best practices, and internal teams lacked the ability to self-manage key processes. So, we started asking questions around, ‘How is this really set up?

The challenge and the turning point: SAP SuccessFactors Health Check

Zalaris conducted a comprehensive report of SAP SuccessFactors, enabling both technical and executive stakeholders at SUEZ to clearly understand what needed to be addressed. The Health Check uncovered multiple areas where the system deviated from SAP standard practice, including major gaps in configuration and missing documentation.

What began as a diagnostic exercise quickly evolved into a transformational journey.

Initially, SUEZ explored resolving the issues with its original vendor. However, facing delays and limited progress, the team handed the remediation work over to Zalaris. This shift not only accelerated outcomes but also set the foundation for a more proactive, strategic partnership.

Key findings included:

  • Severe misconfigurations in the Onboarding module
  • Missing elements in four or five critical areas
  • Deviation from SAP standard practices, impacting efficiency
  • Documentation gaps, making internal troubleshooting difficult
The challenge and the turning point: SAP SuccessFactors Health Check
The Health Check was more than a technical review, it was a catalyst for transformation, unlocking value, building trust, and restoring confidence in HR technology at a critical moment for the business. The audit not only clarified what needed fixing but laid out a step-by-step remediation plan. Zalaris supported SUEZ through the vendor transition process and eventually assumed full responsibility for ongoing support. The report was fantastic. It was clear, well-prioritised, and easy to understand, both technically and at executive level.

The results: Greater control, reduced costs, and future-ready operations
We don’t have to chase Zalaris. They come to us. That saves everyone time and headaches. At the end, the SAP SuccessFactors Health Check was more than a technical audit, it was a turning point. With a more stable, well-documented system in place and a trusted support partner in Zalaris, SUEZ is now better positioned to scale, innovate, and focus on what matters most: delivering value through their people.

Looking ahead: A foundation for strategic growth

What began as a health audit evolved into a long-term strategic shift. SUEZ has now moved AMS and broader HR project support to Zalaris and is transitioning additional systems away from legacy vendors.

Zalaris earned SUEZ’s trust by prioritising transparency, proactivity, and real outcomes over upselling. The AMS model includes:

  • Monthly reviews with IT and HR leadership
  • Optional weekly support calls
  • Proactive briefings for SAP updates and HR support packs

What stood out to SUEZ was not just Zalaris’ technical expertise, but the quality of the partnership. From day one, the Zalaris team prioritised open communication, clear expectations, and honest guidance, even when it meant acknowledging limitations.

Zalaris helped establish a rhythm of proactive support through monthly service reviews and ongoing briefings about SAP changes. This removed the guesswork from system updates and helped the HR and IT teams stay ahead of potential issues.

The result: confidence in the platform, empowerment of internal teams, and a partner they trust to challenge the status quo.

Looking ahead: A foundation for strategic growth
If the frontline HR and payroll staff are happy, that’s all the signs I need that things are working. With Zalaris, that’s exactly what we’ve got.
