SUEZ unlocks system optimisation and cost savings with Zalaris Health Check and AMS partnership

SUEZ Australia, a leader in environmental services, has long prioritised innovation and operational excellence. During a recent period of organisational change, the business encountered challenges with its HR systems that led to a reassessment of its SAP SuccessFactors environment.

The challenge and the turning point: SAP SuccessFactors Health Check

Zalaris conducted a comprehensive SAP SuccessFactors Health Check, enabling technical and executive stakeholders at SUEZ to understand what needed to be addressed.

After the diagnostic phase, Zalaris supported SUEZ through the vendor transition and assumed responsibility for ongoing AMS support, helping establish proactive service reviews and clearer guidance for SAP updates.

Building on this foundation, SUEZ selected Zalaris to further enhance its Employee Central Payroll (ECP) solution and adopt leading payroll practices, and to implement WorkAxle for its native integration with SAP SuccessFactors, advanced automation capabilities and improved workforce visibility. The SUEZ and Zalaris teams completed 827 test scenarios across ECP, Time Tracker, Time Off and WorkAxle, and delivered both go-lives through a phased rollout that minimised disruption to SUEZ's operations.

  • Full SAP SuccessFactors Health Check across key configuration and documentation areas
  • Prioritised remediation roadmap and vendor transition support
  • Ongoing AMS support with monthly reviews, optional weekly support calls, and proactive SAP update briefings
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (ECP) for streamlined payroll operations
  • WorkAxle implementation for workforce scheduling and time management, with native integration into SAP SuccessFactors
  • Time Off module for simplified leave management

Key findings included:

  • Severe misconfigurations in the Onboarding module
  • Missing elements in four or five critical areas
  • Deviation from SAP standard practices, impacting efficiency
  • Documentation gaps, making internal troubleshooting difficult

Role of Zalaris

Following the remediation led by Zalaris, SUEZ saw immediate operational and financial benefits, with further gains realised as the partnership expanded into payroll and workforce management.

  • 50% reduction in support hours consumption. By resolving root-cause issues and standardising configurations, the internal team could manage the system independently, cutting reliance on external vendors.
  • Improved platform performance and user experience. Onboarding processes were stabilised, and HR users reported smoother operations with fewer incidents and escalations.
  • Strengthened HR-IT collaboration. Regular monthly reviews and transparent communication with Zalaris helped SUEZ maintain alignment across teams.
  • Resolution of long-standing payroll issues, reduced manual processing and double handling, and adoption of industry-leading payroll best practices.
  • Increased automation through WorkAxle's native integration with SuccessFactors, with more intuitive dashboards, automated timesheet approvals and improved real-time visibility for managers, supervisors and payroll teams.
  • A smooth, well-tested go-live for ECP, Time Off and WorkAxle, backed by 827 test scenarios and a phased rollout that minimised implementation risk.

The results: Greater control, reduced costs, and future-ready operations

What began as a health audit evolved into a long-term strategic shift. SUEZ has now moved AMS and broader HR project support to Zalaris and is transitioning additional systems away from legacy vendors.

Zalaris earned SUEZ’s trust by prioritising transparency, proactivity, and real outcomes over upselling. The AMS model includes:

  • Monthly reviews with IT and HR leadership
  • Optional weekly support calls
  • Proactive briefings for SAP updates and HR support packs

What stood out to SUEZ was not just Zalaris’ technical expertise, but the quality of the partnership. From day one, the Zalaris team prioritised open communication, clear expectations, and honest guidance, even when it meant acknowledging limitations.

Zalaris helped establish a rhythm of proactive support through monthly service reviews and ongoing briefings about SAP changes. This removed the guesswork from system updates and helped the HR and IT teams stay ahead of potential issues.

The result: confidence in the platform, empowerment of internal teams, and a partner they trust to challenge the status quo.
