#teamZalaris for Norseman 2021 - comprises of Jon Breivold (26), Marius Johansen (26), Linda Helgerud (40), Torsten Neufeld (35), Mark Bamford (47), Richard Traynor (58), Flora Colledge (35) and Hans-Petter Mellerud (60) - have together raised a total of over NOK 0.7 million benefitting Aktiv mot kreft, 5K Your Way and Kitz Hopp Children's Cancer Centre.
“This is undoubtedly the hardest thing I have ever done”, says Breivold who came in with the final time of 10 hours, 21 minutes and 47 seconds. Flora Colledge came in 2nd place amongst the women. This year’s competition was an effort. Strong winds led to high waves in the Hardangerfjord and constant headwinds on the bike over the Hardangervidda. At the finish line at Gaustatoppen, it was sometimes difficult to stand upright. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic travel restrictions, not all the athletes from #teamZalaris participated in the race. However, the rest of #teamZalaris from Germany and the UK - Torsten Neufeld (35), Jon Mark Bamford (47) and Richard Traynor (58) continued with fund raising activities to inspire people towards an active lifestyle.
Norseman Xtreme Triathlon is a full distance triathlon that starts with a 4 meter jump from a car ferry into Eidfjord, in Hardanger. After a rather chilly 3.8 kilometer swim, the course takes you on a 180 kilometer ride through some of Norway's most stunning landscapes. The marathon run concluding the race, ends at the peak of the iconic Gaustatoppen. The 226 kilometer race accumulates just over 5000 meters of ascent. Zalaris is a title sponsor of Norseman Xtreme Triathlon and also the sponsor of Hans-Christian Tungesvik, the winner of Norseman Xtreme Triathlon 2019.
CEO and Founder of Zalaris, Hans-Petter Mellerud explains, “I am so proud of Jon to not only pull off an absolutely insane performance - but he also earned his spot to be part of the team through a fantastic fundraising and commitment to Aktiv Mot kreft. This truly aligns with our values of Aiming High - where #bestingmyself is everyone's motto because we give the best versions of ourselves to the team. I am also extremely proud of the rest of #teamZalaris for their positive attitude and giving their best in the race, as well as in fund raising. This also includes our employees for their effort to stay active throughout summer - for each kilometer they walk, run, cycle, swim, or any other activity of their choice, Zalaris will contribute 1 euro to help cancer patients”.
